Ever notice how everyone signs off emails or messages with “Be Safe”?
If you had told me 2020 would play out like one of those scary movies where no cure was found – I would have laughed and said you must be crazy! Little did we know..
It is here..this is now, and the only thing we can do is stay safe, be indoors and figure out how to adjust to this – our new normal.
Many have taken to trying out baking, cooking new dishes and finding some sort of way to be creative while being stuck indoors. Others have been on the frontline, working day in and day out keeping the essential services going. We have also seen communities rally together to feed thousands, and having grants increased to survive these tough months ahead.
Many have lost jobs, businesses and family members. Kids are being kept indoors, and parents have become teachers; with no manuals as to how to do this.
Exercise is only allowed between 6 and 9am; work from home has become a thing. Alcohol and cigarette sales are forbidden and video calls are the new “visits” during social distancing. Every step we take is according to what is allowed and what is not on the addendum which keeps changing depending on what the President has to say that week.
Hugging and handshakes are a thing of the past; no mask no entry is a rule set in stone in most stores! Life as we know it has changed…
We are scared, and uncertainty hangs in the air as thick as the smog we are used to before this pandemic hit us. As much as we try to focus on the positive, it still hangs above us as we watch the number of cases increase daily.
Let’s speak about our feelings, the loss we facing;
Let’s cry about the uncertainty today.
Do not try and forget, or push your fears aside. It is as real as this virus and needs to be dealt with. Talk about it, write about it – get it out of your head so that you can begin again. Take 5 minutes today and let it out…..
We are human, we are not prepared for this pandemic and we have no idea where to next.
Today I am not here to tell you it’s going to be okay, I’m not here to tell you to focus on the positives. I am only here to share how I feel, encourage you to do the same – what I do know is this; we are all in this together. And together we will get through this. Let’s get through today….
And take it from there.
