Every mother’s plea

5 Minutes, that’s all I need…to sleep, to eat, to shower…..to pee alone!

Way too many articles out there are telling us we can have it all – as long as we can wake up earlier than usual. As if we do not wake up early enough already. If we do that, we’d have to be up between 3 am – 4 am just to spend some time loving on us? No thanks, I’ll take my extra hour of sleep over “me-time” any day.

Earlier this week I heard someone say “You set the tone of your household”. This got me thinking, if I feel good my family operates in a good space. If I’m having a bad day, the rest of my household feels it too. There is so much power in that statement. Do we even understand why self-care is so important for us as mothers?

We are supermoms no doubt, but who looks after us when our souls are tired? Know that I know that too well, cause I am there too. My soul is tired. My tired is tired.

This brings me back to my 5-minute plea..to myself. I need 5 minutes to back up, care for myself and take it from there.

Over the next few weeks, we will be revisiting what it means to practice self-care; dare to dream again and enjoy ourselves – with the 5 minutes we do have.
